Analyis of the race
A very ordinary event, run in a time over six seconds slower than the preceding beginners' chase. SYNCOPATED RHYTHM made a winning a return at Uttoxeter last month after missing a season and he defied a 9lb rise to follow up. He made quite hard work of things after jumping to the front three from home and was helped by the runner-up's blunder two out, but does seem quite a lazy type and there could yet be further improvement in him.
Topweight Buailteoir, reverting to fences on this second run for the yard, was held up off the pace and had improved to look a threat in second when he blundered badly two out. How much he would have gone on to find is open to debate, and another error at the last sealed his fate.
Gray's Eulogy held a big lead at one stage but his exertions inevitably told. He has not shown much for a long time and has dropped a long way in the weights.
